Certain interesting observations about HAVAN.

HAVAN:

     Havan is an important part in the practice of Mahavidyas for a sadhaka apart from jap, dhyan and other things. Our ancient Rishis designed a very detailed procedures for doing havan after studying various aspects as regards the Havan kund, wood to be used for fire, material to be used for Ahuti and calculation of time and appropriate mantra for the performer or yajman. With the passage of time, procedural details for performance of same were changed for convenience and shortage of time may be. It resulted in havans sans details which one feels were essential for achievement of the desired goals or results. By working on various old scriptures one dug out the details of procedure which our Rishis of ancient times used. This way a book by the name of YAJNA II came into being though it is not meant for any commercial sales but was given to sadhaks on a particular path of sadhana. In it, one tried to explain the detailed process of Havan when it is done outward or internally inside in our own body. One graduates from outer havan to internal havan. The whole subject has been explained in great details there. But here a small aspect is being shared for the interest of the followers of the blog here. This information can be used whenever you are partaking any havan. Most of the people who  perform general havans do not follow such procedures at all or even know the details or we may say are not interested to know them even. One has respect for everyone and is not suggesting any thing against others but simply putting forward ones point of view.

     An interesting part of havan is the fire itself. Its colour, behavior, sound  and smell tell us enough about the outcome of the whole procedure. Ancient Rishis could predict the result of the havan just by seeing it because of their in depth knowledge of the procedures. In the havan kund(pit) we arrange wood before lighting it up. After establishing the fire inside the kund, we should observe various things. We must observe where the wood is burning the best; where It is not burning; which side of the kund is having smoke; where one can see the ashes at the bottom. The part where unburnt wood is seen is called EAR1 of the fire. If we put ahuti in that space while performing havan it gives us problems(vyadhi). The part where excessive smoke is gathered is called NOSE2 of the fire, if we put ahuti /offerings there then performer will get mental tension. The part where wood is not burning properly is called EYES3, by offering ahutis in that space of fire one gets blind or problem of eyes. The part where one can see the red hot coals, it is called FOREHEAD4. By offering the ahutis in that space causes loss of wealth to the performer. Inside the kund where we see the best flame is called MOUTH5 of the fire and is best place for offerings. One should always put ahutis in that part of fore for good results.

Try to listen to the sound coming out of the havan fire. If it is like monsoon clouds or like an elephant it is considered auspicious, if it is like a crow or a donkey then it is inauspicious.

Try to smell the fire. If it smells like lotus, guggle, flowers then it is auspicious. If it is bad smelling then it is inauspicious.

If top of the fire is like an umbrella, is without any vibrations and is southward turning then it is auspicious for the performer as well as the country.

If colour of the smoke coming out is black then it is very inauspicious but if it is clear and transparent then it is auspicious.

     As per scriptures, six different karmas have been explained namely Shanti(peaceful endeavour), Vashikaran(controlling of someone), Stambhan(to make some one struck to one place), Vidveshan( to creat tension between two people), Ucchatan(to create mental instability in a person) and Maran(killing).

  1. Yesterday during my Ashtami havan the agni was burning well but in the middle some burning wood leapt out of the fire and fell on my lap. What is the significance of this?
