Renderings from Dehsiddhi - Akhand Mahayog - (Gopinath Kaviraj, translation in Hindi by SN Khandelwal) Part I

Renderings from 'Dehsiddhi' -  Part I

This question can arise that dehsiddhi and victory over death is nothing new. In olden times many special people were able to conquer death through some special sadhanas or practices. Hatha practitioners' achieved it through transcending time. People from other systems also achieved this state. Knowledgeable people say that all the things in the world has been create by attrition between Fire and Moon/ Som. Som is life and Fire is death. Fire is also known as Kaalagni, Sangharagni and Samvartagni etc. Its work is to consume Som kala. Because of the effect of fire, our physical frames dies when all the Som in our body is consumed. When the power of Som is mor only then it can pierce death and achieve eternity. At that time Siddh deh will be generated. Deh or physical body is of two types, Pakv and Apakv. In pakv deh or body, there is no effect of death or old age and in this very frame one achieves stillness of mind. This type of body only has the capacity to attain great knowledge. As per the teachers of Raseshvar lineage, by performing 18 sanskaars/ rights on mercury, the body becomes free from the ailments fear of death and old age. The joining of Shiv seed mercury and Gauri seed Abhrak/ Mica, is coming together of Shiv and Shakti. From here an adept body is generated. This body transcends death. Rasa can turn Iron in to gold, being able to pierce body it can make the body stay for a long time. There is a story that Adi Shankaracharya's guru Govindpad made his physical frame siddh by this method only. The benefit of this kind of body is natural Jivanmukt state.

In Hatha yogis, like Mercury use of air is there to attain dehsiddhi. Whatever qualities are there in Mercury are there in air too. By binding each mercury and air, Khecharatva state can be attained and a path to eternal life can be opened. From olden times dehsiddhi through Bindu sadhana has been known. In Budhist's, especially Mahayani tantriks lineage, Dehsiddhi wass known as Skandh Siddhi and siddhas knew its procedure. In the scriptures of Siddha teachers, specially in Sekodyeshya, Dohakosh many secrets of Skandh Siddhi have been mentioned. Matsyendra, Goraksh, Jallandhar etc Nath Yogis use to say that till siddhi of body is not be attained, great knowledge can never be realized. Jallandahar Nath gave many instructions to queen Mayanvati regarding this. Bhavdeh of Sahajiya Vaishnav is also preliminary stage of Dehsiddhi. To tame Bhav/ Emotion and love is not possible without Bhavdeh. The difference exists because of Support of Name and Mantra. During sadhak state, swabhav sadhana continues under Bhavdeh.

Many people have achieved this is past but their number is very small, even Patanjal yog darshan also agrees to it. Even Raman Maharishi, who followed path of knowledge, a little inkling of Kaya siddhi is  there in his sermons or talks. He accepts two kinds of Nirvikalp state namely Keval and Sahaj. Difference between two being that in Keval state mind is not completely decimated but Sahaj there is no movement of mind at all. Staying in this for a long time, changes start occuring in our bodies. Body becomes invisible and bereft of sensation of touch.....Raman Gita.

Just by Dehsiddhi all works are not performed after that one has to undertake many austerities. In the realm of Adepts many adepts roam. In them there is no death and out of them some do not have even old age. Still none of them have attained completeness. Still they are working for great knowledge. Still they are trying for it. With long time austerity only this Siddhdeh converts to Divyadeh or Pranatanu. Here there is no death because there is no leaving of body here. Without Pranav tanu, great knowledge can not be assimilated. Pranav tanu is invisible for even Siddhas.
