Witness State

For creation, one moves from Nishakal (निष्कल) to Sakal (सकल) and for annihilation one moves from Sakal (सकल) to Nishkal (निष्कल). Thus we can say all the spiritual practices (अध्यात्मिक सधना) in a way are methods to lead a sadhak (साधक) from  Sakal (सकल) to Nishkal (निष्कल). Sakal means with Kalan (कलन) and Nishkal means without Kalan (निः कलन). Kalan (कलन) is the Sfuran (स्फुरन) and later we call it vibraton (कंपन). Whole universe is vibrating up to its smallest particle known as atom (परमाणु).

Our body is equipped with 5 senses (पञ्च इन्द्रियां) which are connected with our mind. Our mind is always in the process of expereincing the subjects of these senses in the outside world. It keeps running whole of its life outward but is never able to find that very sense object after experiencing which it feels completely satisfied and does not feel need of that snese anymore. So we can say that one remains dissatified (अतृप्त/ atript) whole of ones life. So it is the mind which when attached to any outside sense object makes one run after it. This is depicted by outgoing senses in the figure 1 below which is nothing but a grosser representation of Pathway 1 shown in the above sketch. This is known as ignorance (अज्ञान) and is seen as darkness in the forhead as we close our eyes.

Now when through Sadhana, we start to take the mind off from the senses object and start focussing on inward things, say like pran (प्राण), our mind starts getting detached from the outward movement through senses and start getting attched to the obervation of pran (प्राण). But this is not so easy. As after sometime it again dissociates from it starts moving towards the sense enjoyment. But when one keeps on practicing pran observaton through mind, mind starts becoming more and more stable and still. As it stillness increases, one starts observing appearance of light or effulgence inside the forhead at the eyebrow centre. This light is known as Prakash (प्रकाश) or knowledge (ज्ञान). Longer our mind is able to observe the pran, more state of witness is attained by it. More the state of witness (साक्षी) dawns, more and more light starts appearig at the eye brow centre. Hence light is directly proportional to the witness state (साक्षी भाव) of the sadhak. ............. Shaktanand (शाक्तानन्द).
