Glands and their Effect on Spiritual Aspect

 Lymphatic System

Lymphatic glands supply raw material 'lymphs' to the 'glands'. After usage what ever is extra goes to the brain and provides food for the nerve cells in the cranium. When lymphs come in contact with the activated glands, then hormones are secreted.

Raw material of the testes is (lymph) hormone generated by lymphatic glands (regional). The lymph gets converted to semen in the testes. When lymph comes to the solar plexus then feeling of love and affection for children develops. Solar plexus cannot work properly if regular supply of lymphs is missing. For spiritual aspirants the supply of lymphs to solar plexus is high, so 'love of children' gets converted to 'love for supreme'. So we can say that lymph is the cause of psychic change.

While in female bodies ova's are created in ovaries. Some other lymph keep proper energy in the body and also enhance physicality, in female a certain portion is  utilized for production of milk. In adolescents the lymphs convert into sensation in genitalia from where the young people get the feeling or sensation of vigour which propels them to work. In hot climate this occurs in the boys of 17 while in girls it occurs around 16th year. While in cold climate countries it is a year or so later.

If hot or static diet is consumed, lymph production gets reduced while its conversion into semen will increase. This will lead to intellectual backwardness. Those who eat animal protein they produce many children.  Carnivores may be cunning but less intellectual, while in case of granivorous, brain development is more.  Lymph is required for milk production, hence girls are quick before giving birth but slower afterwards. Deer are granivorous, hence can move faster but give less milk, as their lymphs are consume in running and jumping. Their brain is also more developed.

Animal protein has less chlorophyll as compared green vegetable proteins, maximum lymphs are produced from vegetable proteins. While on the other animal protein generate lot of heat in human body, so lymphs get converted into semen. In case of monkeys and deer this does not happen and hey run and jump abundantly. Lymph converts to spermatoza and then to seminal fluid. Chlorophyll accelerates this process.

Positive and negative environment and thoughts are also catalytic agents for increased production of lymphs while negativity reduces it. We can say lymph his a kind of initial hormone and is converted to other hormones by various different glands.

Positive and negative environment and thoughts are also catalytic agents for increased production of lymphs’ while negativity reduces it. We can say lymph his a kind of initial hormon and is converted to other hormones by various different glands.

Testes and Ovaries:

These develop around the age of 13 in hot countries and around 14 in cold countries in humans due to secretion of a special kind of hormone. Testes and Ovaries are the glands which convert lymphs into semen. As soon as they produce semen, the nerves are affected and there are changes in the thoughts of the person. In fact it is the pituitary gland which tells the testes to convert the lymphs into semen (testosterons and spermatic fluid) . When it is produced more, it generates desire of sex and comes out of the body.

During normal production a sense of dutifulness is created in the person. If they are overactive, then more hormones will be secreted then a youth develops  the spirit of rationality. The pubic hair growth is due to activity of testes. Development of the rationality is the psychic effect, the nervous system also gets affected. If not hindered by nature it leads to hair growth in the arm pits by the age of 15-17 yrs in hot countries and 17-18 in cold countries. A sense of rationality grows. Normal secretion leads to sex longings.

If under secretion occurs, then their will be less hair growth, sex glands will not develop and will lead to cruelty in behaviour of the person. Such children will not like to socialize, develop less kindness, they will support dogma, not have strength to protest against dogma and not support new ideas.

If secretions are in excess, the it leads to power to transform longing into universality. Idea to become great comes to the mind in those who have leaning towards the spiritual awakening. If there is no hindrance from lymphatic glands, and testes function normally, intelligence develops. Without testes solar plexus will not develop and intelligence will decrease.

Prostrate Gland:

It gives rise to feeling of shyness. While a child can walk naked in a street but an adult cannot. Its over secretion develops melancholia i.e. what is the need of this creation, nobody cares for me etc.

During under secretion one would develop fearful nature and suffer from psychic hellucination. May even see ghosts in broad day light. Lower plexi are more dependent on upper plexi. Surplus supply of lymphs goes to the brain and nourishes the neurons of cranium.

Solar Plexus:

Located in the middle of the chest. Developed solar plexus leads to love for children. Its common in animals, birds, mammals and humans. When testes and ovaries are developed, glands starts functioning to make human milk, love for children start increasing. On development of solar plexus bear grows, low secretion leads to thinner beard. Low secretions leading to eunuchs, love for children is lacking.

In case of over secretion, with spiritual leanings, thick beards and development of breasts may also result. A person cannot survive if body is dissociated from solar plexus.

Thyroid and Parathyroid:

Voice and moustache grows in males due to development of thyroid gland. Quality of self reliance also increases. In men if they do not have developed thyroid, they will become more quarrelsome. Women will also be like that and will also be irrational. Under secretion of para thyroid leads to vanity in nature.

These glands develop by age of 24 in males of hot countries and by 26 in males of cold countries. Its functioning deteriorates by the age of 50 in hot countries and 51 in cold countries. Thinking power also get affected by the age of 60 and 61 respectively as mentioned above.

Pituitary and Pineal gland

Its said that at birth pineal gland, also known as Shiv granthi, is working and the new born child carries all the memories of the past. Pineal gland is just like magnet for fluorides coming into our bodies. When new born child drinks various liquids all the fluorides (f) accumulate around pineal and slowly it stops working. Then our Pituitary, Vishnu granthi takes over. After 13 years of age when sex glands are developed fully then Pituitary starts working. If one has tread the path of spirituality in previous life, thirst for it becomes much more stronger. If one gets proper guidance now, progress takes place else downfall is very fast.

After getting guidance from spiritual person, mind starts rising higher and one transcends Pituitary and elevates towards Pineal gland. Through concentration and meditation, one reactivates Pineal gland and starts one's journey on the path of salvation.

There are four dimensions of Yoga psychology, representing four levels of meditation are

1. Mooladhar to Manipur Chakra,

2. Manipur Chakra to Vishuddhi Chakra,

3. Vishuddhi Chakra to Ajna Chakra,

 &

4. Above Ajna Chakra.

Most of the glands work in the first and second level of psychology, Pituitary works in the third dimension while Pineal works in the third and fourth dimension. Thus purification of Pineal glands essential for any serious spiritual seeker. Pituitary gland is psycho-spiritual in nature while Pineal gland is spiritual in nature. Secretion of upper glands effect the lower glands.

Various Plexi mentioned in the body are bio-psychological secrets of living. In inanimate objects there is no secretion of glands and hence in them the expression takes place through expansion and contraction of their inter molecular and inter atomic spaces. Positive vibrations work through various plexis, Pineal and Pituitary glands, negative energies cannot effect them. When a spiritual aspirant attains certain level of concentration and meditation, sweet aroma is experienced and mind becomes peaceful and calm........Om!..Shaktanand.

Rendering from 'Yoga Psychology'

Renderings with Personal thoughts for viewers calrifications:

World quickly moved from Physicality to intellectuality. Soon a time will come when they will move from intellectuality to spirituality. Generally, three kinds of people exist, namley, 1. Physical (Animalistic), 2. Psychic (Humans) and 3. Spiritual beings.

For evolving on spiritual path, spiritual practices or sadhanas are required for which role of chakras become important. When we talk of Chakras (चक्र) then two things are most important, 1. Chakra Shodhan (चक्र शोधन) or purification and 2. Chakra Niyantran (चक्र नियंत्रण) or control. In our bodies chakras are located at tht points where pychic-spiritual pathways of Ida (इडा), Pingala (पिङ्गला) and Sushumana (सुषुमना) meet each other.

Our mind is in constant flux of thoughts, they are being generated and are being lost or dissolving too. These thoughts are being generated from our Vrittis (वृत्ति) which in turn arise from bank of Sanskars (संस्कार) accrued inside us over many past births. The Sanskars of a person are deeply rooted and not easy to fathom so easily but when they are agitated through certain process then they arise as vrittis which can be observed in a person. These vrittis are dependent and can be  controlled through Chakras. The afore mentioned vrittis are 50 in number and also represent the 50 alphabets of our Devnagari lipi. These 50 alphabets as per the tantra language are called Matrika shaktis (मातृका शक्तियां). These are considered to be the building blocks of the universe.

The vrittis are expressed internally or externally in the form of vibrations, which emanate from chakras. These vibrations from any chakra in turn vibrate the glands locaated around of it. Vibration of the glands arouse them and make them secrete their respective hormone. Thus, we can say that all the hormonal secretions in our bodies can be controlled with the help of chakras.

Thyroid Gland is called Brihaspati Granthi (बृहस्पति ग्रन्थि), Para Thyroid is called Brihaspati Upgranthi (बृहस्पति उपग्रन्थि), Pituitary is called Mahayogini Granthi (महायोगिनि ग्रन्थि) and Pineal is called Sahasrar Granthi (सहस्रार ग्रन्थि).

Most of the heat is geenrated in our Manipur chakra (मणिपुर् चक्र), as all the digestive organs are located there, hence its called Agnashaya (अग्नाशय) and since it is the centre of our body its also referred to as Mahashaya (महाशय). It contains 10 glands and sub glands around it. When a person is cremated, navel never burns fully. Its is collected by the relatives and generally put in a sacred river due to respective religious beliefs for higher evolution of departed being. This is because its point of burning is higher than the temperature of funeral pyre. For its complete burning, we will have to use higher temperature and longer duration of time. .........Om.  from 'Yoga Philosophy' by Shri Shri Anandmurti. Shaktanand.

Chakra Vrittis or Propensities

 Mooladhar Chakra (मूलाधार चक्र):

The whole body is balanced on this chakra. It has four vrittis/ वृत्ति (propensities) namely Dharma/ धर्म (psycho-spiritual longing), Artha/ अर्थ (psychic longing), Kama/ काम (physical longing), Moksha/मोक्ष (Spiritual longing).

Swadhishthan Chakra (स्वाधिष्ठान चक्र):

Located in the spinal column directly behind the genital organ. It has 06 propensities, namely, Avijina/ अविजिना (belittlement of others), Murccha/ मूर्छा, psychic stupor, lack of common sense, Prashraya/ प्रश्रय (indulgence), Avishvasa/ अविश्वास (lack of confidence), Sarvanasha/ सर्वनाश (thought of sure annihilation), Krurataa/ क्रूरता (Cruelty).

Manipur Chakra:

Located at the navel and controls ten propensities Lajja/ लज्जा (shyness), Pishunta/ पिषुणता (Sadistic tendency), Iirasha/ईर्षया (envy), Sushupti/ सुषुप्ती (sleepiness, staticity), Vishada/ विशाद (Melancholia), Kasaya/ क्षय (peevishness), Trasna/ तृष्णा (yearning for acquisition), Moh/ मोह (attachment, infatuation), Ghrina/ घृणा (hatred, revulsion), Bhaya/ भय (fear).

Anahat Chakra:

Located in the region of chest, controls 10 propensities in sadhak, namely, Asha/ आशा (Hope), Chinta/ चिन्ता (worry), Cheshta (effort), Mammta/ ममता (Attachment), Dambh/ दम्भ (Vanity), Vivek/ विवेक (conscience),Vikalta/ विकलता (mental numbness due to fear), Ahamkar/ अहंकार (Ego), Lolata/ लोलता (Avarice), Kapatata/ कपटता (hypocrisy), Vitarka/ वितर्क (wild exaggerated argumentation), Anutapa/ अनुताप (repentance). :

Vishudhi Chakra:

Located in the region of throat, controls 16 propensities in sadhak, namely, Shadaj/ षडज (sound of Peacock), Rishabh/ ऋष्भ (Sound of Ox or bull), Gandhar/ गन्धार (Sound of goat), Madhyam/ मध्यम (Sound of deer), Pancham/ पञ्चम (sound of cuckoo), Dhaivat/ धैवत (sound of donkey), Nishad/ निशाद (sound of elephant), Onm/ ॐ (accoustic root of creation, preservation and annihilation), Humm/ हुं (Sound of arising kundalini), Phat/फट (putting thery in practice), Vaushat/वौषट (expression of mundane knowledge), Vashat/ वषट (welfare in the subtler sphere), Swaha/ स्वाहा (performing noble action), Namah/ नमः (surrender to Supreme), Visa (repulsive action) and Amrata/ अमृत (sweet expression). When any theory is put into action then , the process is made effectively chanting humm, phat, vashat, Vaushat, Swaha and Namah,

Ajna Chakra:

Located between the brows and has got two propensities, namely, Apara/ अपरा (mudane knowledge) and Para/ परा (spiritual knowledge). By doing certain asnas, one can control the propensities lying in different chakras enumerated above.

Mayur Asan/ मयूर आसन for Manipur Chakra/ मनिपुर चक्र, Fear of public speaking means our Manipur chakra is weak. Extreme fear causes pressure and tension on it. Our afferent and efferent nerves work during the condition of fear, tension of the nerves reaches brain so that excessive pressure does not occur. If information carried by efferent nerves is not allowed to reach the Manipur chakra from brain then imbalance can cause a blockage in the Anahat chakra. It may cause palpitation, pressure on heart, inability to think decisively and even heart attack.

In Vishudhi (विशुद्धि चक्र), thyroid and Parathyroid are more developed than lymphatic system (saves us from infection and keeps healthy fluid balance through our body). Earlier lymphatic system was more developed but now, thyroid and parathyroid are more developed, which are connected with psychic developments. And intellectual evolution. While lymphatic system is associated with more physical activity.

Hair grow near the lymphatic glands. When we remove hair from those places then lymphatic glands become more heated and give more secretions, this in turn lowers the secretions of thyroid and parathyroid. Both lymphatic and Thyroid-parthyroid are inversely connected. Hence joint hair should not be removed. from talks of Shri Shri Anandmurti........ Om!

Dhyan (meditation) Methods:

Dhyan methods as explained by Matsyendranath ji:

1.

Visualize a vast ocean in front and a white lotus floating in it with innumerable petals. Visualize yourself sitting on it wearing white clothes and white ornaments. Try to experience oneness with that lotus. Meditating like this, one will get free of all kinds of diseases, attachments, fevers and even death

2.

One should meditate on the moon shinning inside Sahasrar lotus and visualize that all the waves of the mind are being saturated by the cool rays of the moon, then one would get free of all kinds of fevers and even death. This practice should be done at least for one year. This also gets rid of old age and diseases too.

If this moon is meditated upon in Navel, Heart and Crown then one gets free of old age and death.

If one meditates on the downward pointing Sahasrar lotus and see it being filled with the nectar from the upward pointed lotus, and feel that one's whole body is being sprayed with the above mentioned nectar then old age and all diseases get removed.

3.

Visualize a 16 petalled lotus, which is completely white in colour. It's each petal is imbued with the vibrations of Shiv and primordial shakti and my whole body is filled with such flow of nectarial vibrations. All these wave flows are snow like white milk currents which are irrigating the whole body. Such a dhyan will remove all kinds of diseases of old age, disease and death........Om!

Some Insight - Yog and Tantra

Thought (विचार) is connected with Yog and Bhav (भाव) or emotion is connected with Tantra. With thought and discrimination (विवेक), Chitt vritti (चित्त वृत्ति) or desire is stopped. Through this, one enters in to thoughtless state, which may lead to Samadhi. Samadhi is the entry gate of realm of emotions or bhav. In the realm of thought, Pran shakti is the basic power while in the realm of Bhav or emotion, power of mind is the principle force. In the realm of thought, speed of time is fast, Conscious (चेतन) - mind (मन) does gross creation, while in the realm of Bhav, Unconscious-mind does the necessary work. Here the speed of time is slow.

For example lets say, one wants to make a house for oneself. In the realm of conscious mind, one would have to think of the house, design, draw plans on paper, then arrange land, buy raw material and with the help of labour errect as per the drawings. This all will take time.

In the case of emotional (भाव) realm, one would just think of the house and it will be made. A human soul or atma, goes through three states namely, Jagrit (जागृत ) - awakened, Swapn (स्वप्न) - dream and Sushupt (सुषुप्त) -Sleep. During Jagrit state oe needs gross body to act; while in swapna state one needs subtle body and in sleep state one needs mental or manomaya body to act. Human atma travels through the journey of life through these three bodies and hence it is called Kaal chakra (काल चक्र) or Bhav chakra (भाव चक्र).

Body - which is continuously getting old, Deh (देह) which is burnt, Tan (तन) which is tanu or small, Kaya which comes under the control of Kaal or time and Ghat (pitcher) which will ultimately break. No body can easily expalin this pran powered body easily.

As per Hatha yoga, 'Shariramadyam Khalu Dharm Sadhanam (शरीरम् आद्यम् खलु धर्म साधनम।)'. To achieve dharma in life, the only effective tool available is this physical or gross body. It is one with the nature. It never lies, it has its own language. Tantra practitioners have great awareness towards it. Whatever the body expresses its need through its own langugage fulfilling of the that requirement is foremost essential. Mind is closely sticking to this body frame. As these two come closer and closer, ailments of the mind get reflected in the physical body. Physical body is developed by nature and mind is developed by Sanskriti or culture. Hence let the body rule the mind. Where there is body, there is life; where there is life, there alone one can think of highest state of conciousness. This is known as divine state.

Bones form almost 1/5 th of the total weight of ones body. Brain weights 1-5 kgs, Skin is about 1/5th of an inch thick and contains 'Melanin'. It saves body from heat, more its presence in the skin darker will be the colour of the skin. As outsode temperature rises, it sends a signal to the hypothalamus gland about it, which in turn informs the sweat glands and blood vessels in the skin to increase its functioning. As our temperature falls, it reverts to normal functioning again. Spine is filled up with CSF, cerebro spinal fluid, also known as intelligent liquid. It moves from base of the spine up to the brain and anatomically covered by three layers of Dura mater, archnoid mater and  pia mater. We have similar connotation in yog of three nerves represented by Ida, Pingla and Sushumana. Medula oblongata has a nerve bunch inside it one end of which is connected to Crown of the head or Brahm randhra while othere is connected to the mooladhar through Ida, Pingla and Sushumana. It controls, heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, circadian rhythms, sneezing, vomiting etc.

There are 9 subtle centres in the body also called Navdurga, which include 6 Chakras and Sahasrar, Som Chakra and Piyush Chakra. Som chakra is connected with subtle body and is reflected through human eyes; while Piyush chakra generates 3 drops of nectar in the brahm muhurt, first one falls on tongue which generates saliva, second falls on heart which generates pulse and third falls in stomach from where Vaikhari speech arises. Before arrival of death it stops functioning.

Spine is connected from mooladhar through vertebral column to Medulla and pons etc and goes to the mid brain area. It is further connected with different parts of brain and Brahmrandhra or crown centre. All these are connected through nerve fibres for passage of motor reactions. They convey nerve force in three ways; 1. Force, 2. Power, 3. Energy. The 9 centres referred above are connected to these three points. Each point is connected to 3-3 subtle centres. The moment these nerve forces stop functioning in the body connection of knowledge with action is broken.

Sadhu (Monk) Tishthe (sits) Nabhi mein (inside navel), Uru (Thighs) Tishthe (sits) Arihant,

(साधु तिष्ठे नाभि में, उरु तिष्ठे अरिहन्त,)

Deh(body) Teerth ke Sheesh(head) par, Tishthe (sits) Shree Bhagwant.

(देह तीर्थ के शीश पर, तिष्ठे श्री भगवन्त।)

Monk/ Sadhak/ practitioner sits in navel (manipur chakra), Arihant lives in his heart (Anahat Chakra) but at the top of the body or inside one's head (Sahasrar chakra) lives the Lord. As per Jains Arihants are omniscient beings also called Kevalins (two types, 1.Tirthankars and 2.Samanya Kevali) who possess Kevala jnana i.e. pure infite knoledge. At the end of their life cycle they attain moksha destroying all of their karmas. Arihants do have physical bodies. Om!..........................Shaktanand.

Baudhmarg in Tantra:

( from Mahapath, Gopinath Kaviraj, translated to Hindi by SN Khandelwal.)

Hatha yog and Raj yoga are 6 limbed and 8 limbed respectively. 6 fold yog of Budhists also is similar. Its details are seen in Guhyasamaj Tantra and Kālchakrottra written by Manjushree. This is also explained in earlier texts like Sekodyesh commentary by Naropā and Marm Kalikatantra. Learned people also call it as Baudh Yog. Commentator on Brahmsutras, Bhaskarāchārya in his rendition of Geeta has mentioned similar sequence of six-fold old path of yog. It has still not been published. Pratyāhār, Dhyān, Prānāyām, Dhāranā, Samādhi is called six-fold yoga. Siddhi is also of two types, Ordinary and special. Yogic Vibhuti is called ordinary siddhi, Sambodhi or Budhatva alone is best or special. As per Samājottar tantra,  it can be attained only through 6 fold path of yog. There are four ways to attain it, namely Sevā Vidhān, Upsadhanā, Sādhanā and Mahāsadhanā.

Mahāuṣhṇeeṣ bimb bhāvanā is called Sevāvidhān. This bimb is trayadhātuk(three dhatu) bimb. Amritkundlini bimb bhāvanā is called Upsādhanā. Devata bimb sādhanā is caleed Sādhanā. To imagine world in the form of Vibhu is called Mahā sādhana.

Attraction of ten senses towards any subject is called āharaṇ. When these senses are inward directed the state is called Pratyāhār. When they move inward and follow the self only then it’s a state of Pratyāhār. During this state the senses do not respond to any outside object. The power to see past-present-future, complete dispassion and to see the ten bases is called Pratyāhār. Smoke in the clear sky, Marichi, Khadyot, Deepkalikā, Chandra, Surya and Bindu darshan come under ten bases. During these, a practitioner can develop complete control over mantra. He gets vāk siddhi(power of speech to be true).

In pratyāhār during darshan of the world dhyān starts. This is the second stage of yog. Sthir or static and chalayamān or dynamic states are called Panchkām. During practice of Panchbudh, one should visualize that everything is budh. This is a form of dhyan and after it comes Prānāyām. Human breath associated with five senses is generator of five kinds of knowledge. In this, gaze is fixed at the tip of the nose with dhyān of the pind Swaroop and this is called Mahāratna Avasthā. Meaning of unwavering state of five budhas is panch gyān and its state is Vigyan skandh. Breath moves in right and left nasal passage. Both these breaths take a form they join together. This form is to established in front of the nasal tip. First of all prana should be established in the middle path(Sushumana), after that it should be established on nose tip. It should be fixed at various places like navel, heart, throat, forehead and in the karnika of the uṣhṇiṣ lotus. This is because the nose tip as well as bindu of the lotus are connected with each other. Maharatna is five coloured. It should be stopped from left and right nasal passage but allowed only in the middle path(of Sushumana). Pranvayu of an ordinary human is impure and is the cause of the world.

The fourth state of the yogi is called Dhāranā. The self-divinity form pran should first be seen in the heart lotus and then established in the forehead. This is said to be deliverance from mind and is called mantra pada. It should be attracted into the karnika of the heart of the anhat lotus and later it should be established in the bindu of the forehead. This alone is dharana.

Now nullified senses are ratna or ornament. In avdhooti marg, after entrance into Chitt, earlier said smoky path is felt. The result of the dharana is entry into vajra satva. Due to its effect, the stilled maharatna or pranvayu starts awakening the chandāli (kundalini shakti) in navel. Following the mahādhārā, it is taken up to Uṣneeṣ chakra. On reaching there, kaya swabhav takes all the four bindus’ there. After conquering dharana, Chandali shakti Kundalini becomes brighter.

Fifth limb of the yog is Anusmriti. With the help of pratyahara and dhyan, feeling of samvritisatya is made still. The purpose of it is to raise feeling of samvriti satya. Because of this the form of samvritti appears omnipresent and all the realms of the time are seen in it. This itself is called Anusmriti. Its effect is generation of auric space. When chit develops a state of no other alternative, then this auric state is established. At this moment five light rays start oozing out from the pores.

The sixth limb of yog is Samadhi. With the help of pragya, assimilating all feeling into one entity, with the help of pindyog the feeling for form should be activated. Due to this, the dawning of great knowledge may take place anytime. This is Samadhi. Through nishpannadi sequence, space lotus is transcended and aksharsukh arises. The joining of state affection and knowledge is called Vimalāvasthā. Now all the sthavar jangham (fixed and movable) creation contracts and pindyog establishes. Now feelings should be run in this solid realm. Like in ayurveda one sidh ras is produced after working on all different rasas, in the same manner, here also realm of solid creation is left behind.  In this state of great pleasure, truthful state creation of samvriti should be experienced. Effect of this is generation of great knowledge and duality is annihilated. Both samvritti satya and pramārth satya start to appear as one only. This alone is the mystery of Vigyān. In this state Budh alone is the great manifestation. This is the real form of every atma. In the samadhi state, unveiled state (of self) arises.

As per Manjushree, the state of Pratyahar etc. generates the concept of Nothingness(shunyata). By establishing smoky path in the space by pratyahara, Vishvadarshan(cosmic seeing) state is achieved. In this state yogi becomes the creator of the whole world. Due to this astonishment in the outer world arises, feelings get strongly established, and due to chits fixation in pind third eye develops and panch abhigya(five kinds of skill) is achieved. When after purification by pranayama,  yogis sun and moon move into the Madhya path or Sushumana, then Bodhistvagan see him. They help establish Shunya in the chitt of the yogi through dharana. The effect of dharana in bindu is that the movement of pran stops. In that state effulgence of vimal-prabha-mandal dawns and pores of the skin start oozing out light. This is called Maharashim form. Grahya and Grahak chit comes together and gives rise to Akshar sukh. This is samadhi. On establishment of it, fixed and unveiled state is achieved. This is called Prabhaswar knowledge. Due to it all the veils are removed and satvadwaya converts into oneness.

Baudhyog is also called as a form of Vagyog. To awaken the natural shakti group, shabd beej is the best option. Varna Matrika kundalini shakti is present in every base and it should be awakened because awakened shakti alone joining with the inner nature of the practitioner gives him great benefit. Due to differentiation of sadhaks different mantras are made. As a seed transforms into tree, flower and fruit, in the same manner shabd beej also establish into the form of divinities. As per mimansa, Devgan are mantratmak or controlled by mantras. As per vedant, the divinities are having specific forms. Both the statements are correct, speaker and spoken name and form being undifferentiated, mantra and divine form also as per tantrik view point considered undifferentiated. As per nirukt’s Daitya kaand, both physical manifestation and un-manifested state of divinity is indicated. This is the view point mostly in vogue. As per sadhaks nature mantras are formulated. Once the disease is known only then medicine is decided. Panch skandh are based on five elements. Thus five differentiations are indicated. They are called ‘Kul’. In Hevajra tantra details of kul are written. After devatas has appeared, then avahan should be done. As a Deepak can not be lighted from unmanifested fire, in the same manner unmanifested divinity’s avahan/invite is also not done. Mudras are used for invitation of divinities. These mudras are essential. Divinities are attracted by them and take their asan. In the centre of the mandal, main devi is located. All around in circle various divinities sit.

Which tantrik baudh call as mudra, is the outer manifestation of the divinity. Karm mudra, dharm mudra, mahamudra and samamudra, are known as the four bhedas of mudra. After finalising one’s guru, disciples attain pragya. Pragya itself is mudra or nayika, this is in fact a kind of marriage itself. After this abhishek is done. After this Sadhak and mudra both enter into the mandal and get busy in yog kriya. In this state to eradicate the outer obstructions, kriya with mantra is done. Now bodhi chitt creation establishment seems to be necessary. Due to the mutual association Pragya and Upaya (sadhika mudra and sadhak) bodh chitt arises. This bodh chitt is to be established in Nirman chakra (Nabhi chakra). This is an extremely difficult kriya, as if bindu is lost one falls from yog and moves towards nether lands or na-ark. Those who are not successful in attaining this bindu in the nabhi chakra, they get entangled in the snares of good and bad. Flickering of the mind and pran comes under bindu. Flickering bindu is samvarti boddh chitt.  Static bindu attains upward movement. In the end, it gets upward directed and reaches mahabindu located in the uṣneeṣ lotus (Sahasrdal lotus). This itself is mukti or nityanand. The static state of bindu is bramcharya. In static bindu with the help of yog kriya, movement is generated. After marriage, in the grahasth ashram, this is the meaning of ‘dharamam acharet’. With this upward movement is attained. Eradication of it is called mahasukh.

Karm mudra is the preliminary state, from karm pad it is known that kaya is kriya of Vak and Chitt. When karm mudra is performed, four different kinds of anand gets generated. Advya vajra has called third anand as Sahajanand and fourth anand has called Virmanand. The goal is seen between param and Viram, hence this is being explained sequentially. Explanation of this kshan differentiation becomes essential. Kshan are of four types. Vichitra(विचित्र), Vipāk(विपाक), Vilakshan (विलक्षण), Vidarbh (विभर्द). Dharmmudra is of the form of dharmdhatu. This mudra is beyond matter (निष्प्रपन्च), free of doubt (निर्विकल्प), natural, unfeigned (अकृत्रिम्), beginningless (अनादि) of merciful temperament. (तथा करुणा स्वभाव). This mudra is of spontaneous nature. Due to dharm mudra ignorance and doubts gets annihilated. In ordinary yog, vaam and Dakshin nadi is called avart maya. Saral nadi (sushumana or brahm nadi) is known as precursor of knowledge. This view point is corroborated by agmic baudh literature too. Lalana and Rasna, back side nadis are known as pragya and Upaya.

Madhyama nadi is called Avdhooti. Dharm mudra is the other name of avdhooti itself. With admiration and respect, one should continuously do practice in this nadi. Avdhooti is the only path in which Nirodh is experienced.

The form which is bereft of darshan, gyan/knowledge or source that alone is the truth or real darshan. In this middle path under the knowledge the disappearance of duality of buyer and bought occurs. Third mudra is called Mahamudra. This is own self and is bereft of all coverings and pure and clear like the middle of the sky. This is called sarvsampadādhār. This is also of the form of final emancipation. In it unimaginable resolutions arise. In this non established mind finds establishment. Yogi call it amrityamansikar. Samaya and fourth mudra is result of this. Samaya mudra is said to be equipped with unthinkable form of self. In this state, for the welfare of the creation and special sambhogkaya and nirmankaya pulsation takes place is vajra form. This cosmic welfare form is called Heruk by Tibetians. By accepting this mudra, teachers, develop five different kinds of imagination. And from this mudra only, great knowledge, samanata knowledge etc comes to light.

In this explanation under six limbed yog, dhoom etc. ten knowledge aspects have been discussed. This is the akalpit Vigyan skand. In this state Vigyan gets connected with shunyatā bindu. In dhyān, these ten kinds of knowledge generate ten different kinds of cosmic object of perception, which start becoming one with the experiencer. This is called Akshobhya bhāv. This is pragya. Here assimilation bhav itself is argument and consideration itself sure statute. When one gets attached to form one gets pleasure and when chitt becomes one with it, one gets happiness. These are the five limbs. Five kinds of pranayams are called panch skandh. Now left and right prānayāma becomes similar, this is called Khandbhāv.

Yog – Mahapath, Gopinath Kaviraj.

Wishing all the blog followers a very merry, happy, auspicious 2024.

Would like to share this beautiful practical aspect of yog with all. with your interest in this blog articles we have crossed 3,37,000 footfalls till now. Thank you every body for your inspiration. Shaktanand.

Yog – Mahapath, Gopinath Kaviraj, translated by SN Khandelwal.

To enter another body is considered to be a high sadhana of Yog. Adi Shankaracharya is said to have demonstrated this kriya. He took the pran up from his left toe and carried it all the way up and left his body through the crown of the head, called Brahmrandhara. From there he entered into the body of King Amru who was going to be cremated. Staying thus, Shaknaracharya understood the Kamkala (as he did not know the subject because he was celibate from childhood itself) tattva to debate with the wife of Mandan Mishra. After assimilating the desired knowledge, he again left the body of the king from Brahmrandhra and entered into his own body guarded by his disciples. After experiencing the Kāmkala tattva, he returned to debate Mandan Mishra’s wife and defeated her too.

How true the whole episode of Shankaracharya is that one can not say, but in some scriptures, some yogis have exhibited such sadhanas. This practice represents high accomplishment of a yogi. So instead of discussing the purpose, we would restrict ourselves to the procedure part only here. Dharana explained in the yog, is actually Deh-dharana. To keep one’s Chitt located in a specific part of the physical body is Dhāranā. In the 8 limbs of yoga, first five i.e. Yam, Niyam, Asan, Pranayam and Pratyāhār are the outer limbs of yog or we can say deal with outer aspect while Dhāranā, Dhyān and Samādhi are the three internal practices of yog. In the tantrik and non-tantrik Baudh literature, definition wise or sequence wise there is difference. In Agams also differences crop up but despite all the differences at different places there seem to be no difference while understanding it at the tattva level.

Different types of Dhāranā: There are three different types of dharana mentioned in Baudhist literature.

1.Deh Dhāranā

Three points are generally mentioned for dharana in yog, Eyebrow centre, Nose tip and Heart. Though these are addressed by different names but still they are in our body or deh only. Hence we can say that it is deh-dharanā only whether we concentrate on eyebrow centre or nose tip or heart.

Chitt or mind also keeps working taking support of physical body. Physical body, senses, Chitt, Antahkaran and ling sharir all are inter connected. Chitt in-fact is Vibhu but its Vrittis shine in the very physical frame in which they are based. While delving into the inner practices of yog one has to stop the outer movement of the vrittis of the chit and make them one pointed in wards. The earlier step of Yog, Pratyahār in fact is meant to stop the outer flow of vrittis’ of our chitt and make it one pointed. With moral and atmic control close association of Body, Mind and Pran is essential. What one learns from Yam and Niyam are the moral conduct rules for living our life. Above this is located our spiritual life. The purpose of asan practice is to make the body still. After this stillness of pran is desired.

If one has not achieved the stillness of the body, then by sitting for long duration in one asan some time one achieves stillness of pran also. When this happens only then pranayama can be understood and only then one can learn control over ones pran. While doing pranayama sadhana some time one attains stillness of senses too for a moment. In that state though eyes may be open but still one would not be able to see anything. Same may be the case with hearing faculty or other such senses of the body. This can be said to be a state where all the senses have been neutralized. We can say that if sight is not, the seer is not and scene is not. When this happens then Pratyāhār is said to be achieved. By continuous practice Sadhak becomes adept in pratyāhār. When this happens outer yog finishes. Now the inner yog starts thus Dharana starts.

Meaning of it is that after attaining stillness, we should direct our chitt in one direction only i.e. focused on the one-pointed goal. This goal itself is the subject of Dhāranā. For this some part of our own body is taken. In dhāranā, chitt gets activated i.e. turns into vritti. This happens when chitt is bound at one place in our body.

2.Videh Dharana:

There is another dhāranā different from above which is called Videh dhāranā. In this vritti arises outside the body. When chitt enters into videhdhāranā then karmic snares of the person gets depleted. During this state Chitt is located inside the body but its Vritti can arise anywhere outside it. It is like sun is located at one place but rays of its light can be seen in far off places in all directions. For this Videh vritti, existence of physical frame is essential. With the help of this only, yogis could generate contact with far off located persons etc. Though we feel chitt to be connected with our physical frame but it is omnipresent. Infact it is endowed with the power of changing the whole cosmos with its vritti. Thus in normal deh dhāranā, chitt and vritti both are inside the physical frame, while in Videh Dhārnā, chitt is inside the body but vritti is outside it.

3.Mahavideh Dhāranā:

During this both Chitt and Vritti reside outside the physical frame. This is called unnatural dhāranā but is natural. Videh dhārnā is artificial and is imagined. Though it is imagined but still maha videh dhāranā comes from it only. For Mahavideh Yogi it help in realization of the self. Due to the affect of this dhāranā alone the snares or curtains on the self are removed. The curtains or covering over the self are called karm-klesh vipāk, which are due to rajo guna. In realized state of Ishwar, these covering are no more there. Ishwar himself is Satya and in it complete freedom and effulgence is displayed. When yogi becomes adept in this Maha Videh Dhāranā then he becomes free of all snares like Karm (because of dharama and adharma deeds), klesh(ignorance etc), three-fold vipāk (of birth, life and death). All these veils cover up our chitt.

Due to the fickle nature of the mind and Chitt, Chitt gets entangled in the body because of its collected karmas. With effect of Samadhi this gets depleted. As we travel from place to place taking particular roads in the same manner Chitt also travels from one place to another taking refuge in different paths called nadis. Thus through dhāranā one comes to know the pathways of these nadis. Without having the knowledge of the nadis, even on depletion of the snares to mind, Chitt can not be moved in the desired direction. The benefit of the neutralization of the karmas is that chitt can move on its speed without any obstruction. Thus without having the knowledge of the pathways one can not move the chitt as per desire.

Senses are closely associated with our chitt, where chitt goes senses also follow there. Om..Shaktanand.

Simple Rules and Regulations for Sadhana

Rules and Regulations for Sadhana as per Shree Tailang Swamiji ji:-

1.               One who himself is satisfied can alone satisfy others.

2.               Tongue is quite adept in doing sinful talks, so keep it under control.

3.               With great effort try to shun lethargy as it is the root cause of all misfortunes (अनर्थ).

4.               World is an examination centre of dharma and adharma. So,with great care after pondering over both, perform in any karma.

5.               One should not see any dharma with disrespect. The crux of all dharmas is Truth alone.

6.               Offering (दान) should always be made to the needy or poor and not to one who has plenty.

7.         Company of the saints is heaven and company of the untruth is hell.

8.               Self   realization    (आत्मसाक्षात्कार),    offering   to   fit   recipient     and satisfaction (संतोष) leads to Moksha or final emancipation.

9.               Those who after reading scriptures do not act accordingly are worse than sinners.

10.            At the base of  every activity there should be dharma or else all endeavors will bear no fruit.

11.            Never partake in any kind of cruelty(हिंसा).

12.   One who without cleansing his sins control over senses and devotion to truth takes sanyas(renounces the world), is a blot to this path.

13.      As rain falls inside a house when there is no ceiling, same way sins enter into the mind which is without reflection on God.

14.            Sinful men are burnt with fire in this world.

15.       All worries (चिंता) lead us on both paths, i.e. of moksha as well as of death. Never worry about biological needs.

16.            A mind following the wrong path can do much more harm than any of our enemies.

17.         As a honey bee is not distracted by the smell or the taste of honey, but keeps herself busy in storing it, likewise we also should not be involved in sins but try to achieve great knowledge.

18.      An extremely ignorant person associates himself with his son, wealth and gets afflictions (क्लेश). When he is not of himself even, what to say

of being of his son’s or his wealth’s.

19.       Very few people reach the other side while most of the people keep running on this side, mimicking dharma.

20.            One who wins over millions in war is not the real hero but one who wins over his own self.

21.         Sins won’t attack us, one should not sit idle thinking like this. As a utensil gets filled drop by drop similarly a person becomes sinful slowly- slowly.

22.           Never say strong words to anyone, never hurt anyone and never make another person cry else we will also have to follow suit.

23.            One who cannot transcend desire cannot be purified how so ever he may dress.

24.            Only one, who can control oneself, can control others. Before giving sermons to others, we must follow it ourselves.

25.            Good and bad deeds are done by us alone. None else can purify us.

26.            One who sees this world as of no significance, death can never see that person.

27.            One who can control his anger, is the real charioteer, others are only holding the reins.

28.  With love win over anger, with auspiciousness(मंगल) win over अमंगल, with no-self-interest(निःस्वार्थ) win over self-interest(स्वार्थ) and with truth(सत्य) win over untruth(झूठ).

29.            Listen to what guru says with full attention and follow it.

30.            Always speak less.( As one speaks more, one is bound to tell lies.)
