Experiencer and Experienced (Bhokta Evam Bhogya) - Part I

Experiencer and Experienced (Bhokta Evam Bhogya) - Part I

 - Mahapath by Gopinath Kaviraj -translation in Hindi by SN Khandelwal.

As per Mahapath, knowledge of Agni(fire) and Som(Moon) is essential. As per the Vaidik view point, in the base of cosmic creation what is called as Som and Agni, is the relation of Experiencer and Experienced. Actually Agni alone is the enjoyer while Som is the enjoyed. Those who consider them as enjoyer are filled with ego only. When the ego of doer ship gets removed, they will themselves find that they are not the doer. Actually doer ship has been imposed on them. In the same manner the state of enjoyed too. That which alone is the enjoyer, is taking everything sitting behind the whole creation. Egoistic person unnecessarily feels that he is the enjoyer. Vaidik Rishis, whom they consider as the only eternal enjoyer is Agni (fire).

When we delve on Bhokta or enjoyer, we find that whosoever may seem to enjoy but at the back of all is only One enjoyer. Depending upon space, time and qualification of the practitioner, all are partaking form the same One source only. This one thing being consumed is called Som by all the Rishis. From here we come to know that whole creation exists or is divided in to dual of Som and Agni.

Other name of is Nectar. In fact this Som or Nectar or Amrit Kala is Jeev's bhog or food. All are taking this only which is called Ahaar (or diet) or that which is to be consumed or eaten. Any jeev may seem to be eating anything but in fact they are partaking this Som part present in that particular food only. As knower and knowledge, doer and the doing are very closely associated, in the same manner enjoyer and the enjoyed are also closely associated with each other. In the absence of One, Other is Not or can not exist. As Shiv and Shakti are eternally associated, in the same manner enjoyer and enjoyed are connected.

In popular language what we call as Yajya, is nothing but an offering of a object to be enjoyed by the eternal enjoyer. Ahuti of Som in Agni is the essence of the Yajna or Yajya. Rice, barley,  sesame seeds and wood etc. Whatever is offered, is representative of things which have greater percentage of Som Tattva in them. That which has no Som tattva in it, Agni or Fire does not accept it. In fact, power to offer Som in the fire is not there in most of the people, they offer same just symbolically. Only gods are the enjoyer, hence all of them accept this part. As per Veda ' अग्निर्देवानां मुखम् ॑, (Fire is the mouth of gods). So giving offer in fire is same as giving to gods. Gods are great rays or rashim (रशिम) of Sun in the form of atma or soul. This is mentioned in Nirukt. When offering is given in fire, its impure part is burned and pure part (Somansh) is converted into Nectar moves upwards through the fire and moves into the realm of Sun from where it is spread all around in that realm. In this way gods take their part of Som from yajna. They get satisfied with this nectar only and thus it is said in the scriptures, Agnau Prastahutih Samagyadityam Uptishthate (अग्नौ प्रस्ताहुतिः सम्यगादित्यात् उपतिष्ठते ).

Taking support of any specific kosha internally, whatever a human offers/ sacrifices that also is same as nectar which is taken by the fire of that kosha. Five fires are connected with five koshas, namely Annmaya, Pranmaya, Manomaya, Vigyanmaya and  Ananadmaya kosha respectively. With this knowledge, one attains Panchagni Vidya or knowledge. As Agni is of five type, in the same manner Som is also of five types. This is called Panchamrit. In the first fire offering of 1st Som is done, in the 2nd fire offering of 2nd some is done, this way all the five Somas are offered to their respective fires.........Om!

Jeev in actual does not take anything as he is not the bhokta or enjoyer but only a seer (साक्षी). He just sees this bhog. As per Chandogya Upnishads, gods get satiation through sight itself. The state of seer (साक्षी) after losing one's ego as seer gets fulfillment through site only. By practice of this art, even by consuming even one does not become the enjoyer or consumer. Ishwar of all yajnas, He alone sitting in all is continually consuming the Som offered in the yajna. The satisfaction received through this insight is in fact called 'Vishudh Anand' or 'Pure joy'...........Om!
